Research activities

The scientific activities of the “Industrial Mechanical Systems” research group at the Polytechnic University of Marche are well established at national and international level, with studies in the fields of planning, design, implementation, management, control, and optimization of production systems, goods manufacturers, and/or service providers in industry and the service sector.
The projects developed mainly concern theoretical and experimental studies, technical, technological, and economic-management innovation. They deal with methodologies for the analysis and sizing of industrial plants, the design, control, and optimization of logistics systems, production management criteria, the layout of production and service facilities, the design and management of distribution logistics networks, the design and optimization of industrial warehouses, reliability engineering, quality, safety, and maintenance management, logistics automation of industrial plants, supply chain management, sustainability, and life cycle assessment (LCA).
Most of the research projects are part of European cooperation programs (Horizon Europe, Erasmus+, Interreg), national programs (M.U.R.S.T./MUR – MISE), regional programs (POR-FESR), and local research programs (M.U.R.S.T. MUR), as well as numerous research contracts funded by private companies.
