Industrial System Engineering

History

The Industrial System Engineering Research Group is active in the Department of Industrial Engineering and Mathematical Sciences of the Polytechnic Univeisrsity of Marche since 1984. The group is currently composed of two full professors, an associate professor, a researcher and about 10 researchers including PhD students and Research fellows.

Mission

The aim of Industrial System Engineering (ISE) Research Group is to contribute to the advancement, development and dissemination of scientific and technical knowledge in the planning, design, construction, operation, maintenance, conversion and disposal of industrial plants, production systems, logistics and services. Teaching, research and technology transfer is performed in a line of innovation, modeling methodologies and techniques with the ultimate goal of promoting the socio-economic well-being and the sustainable development.

Facility
Research activity

The research activities of the Industrial System Engineering research group are defined and consolidated at national and international level with the development of studies in the areas related to the planning, design, implementation, management, control and optimization of production plants, logistic systems and service providers. The projects developed mainly concern theoretical and experimental studies, technical, technological and economic-management innovation. They deal with methods of analysis and sizing of industrial plants, design, control and optimization of logistics systems, production management criteria, production and service plants, design and management of distribution networks, design and optimization of industrial warehouses, reliability engineering, quality management, safety and maintenance, logistics automation of industrial plants, supply chain management, sustainability and environmental impact analysis (LCA). Most of the research projects have been funded by European (EU), national (M.U.R.S.T./MIUR – MISE) and regional (POR-FESR) programmes, as well as involving numerous research contracts financed by private companies.
