Mechanical Technology Laboratory

Room: Q145_131

The laboratory is designed to support research activities focused on the analysis and study of manufacturing processes applied to the main materials of engineering interest.
The laboratory is equipped with a hydraulic press for performing small-scale industrial metal forming processes. It also includes a resistance furnace for heat treatments of the main metal alloys. An FDM 3D printer enables the production of prototype tooling required for experimental testing. In addition, a high-resolution stereo microscope with excellent depth of field is available for surface quality evaluation.
All equipment is available to students for exam projects, curricular internships, and thesis work.

Main Facilities
  • 300 ton hydraulic press
  • Muffle furnace for heat treatments up to 1200°C
  • FDM 3D printer
  • Leica stereo microscope with FusionOptics technology
