The creep and high-temperature mechanical testing laboratory has various types of equipment for analyzing the behavior of metallic materials at high temperatures. The laboratory has a battery of constant load creep machines and a torsion testing machine for studying the hot deformation of metallic materials. These machines are used to study the creep and hot deformation responses of a wide range of non-ferrous and ferrous materials. These included aluminium alloys (e.g. 2000, 3000 and 6000 series alloys produced using conventional casting, plastic working or powder metallurgy techniques), magnesium alloys (e.g. AZ31, AZ91, AE44 and ZM21), steel (e.g. AISI 304, 347 and P/T91), metal matrix composites and metals and alloys manufactured using additive manufacturing.
