Research Areas

The main topic of the research activity is in the field of the Mechanical Design and Mechanics of Materials, with particular attention to deformation measurement with optical techniques, to modeling and characterization, static, dynamic and cyclical, of the mechanical properties of materials, both from theoretical point of view that through experimental tests and the analysis of structures using Finite Elements.
The research activity carried out for the characterization of the materials was based on inverse calibration techniques, both analytical and numerical, and on the application of innovative methods such as the Virtual Fields Method.

Capsule Bio

Gianluca Chiappini was born in S.Benedetto del Tronto (Italy) in 1979, and is currently Associate Professor (ING/IND-14) at the eCAMPUS University since 2020.
He graduated cum laude in Mechanical Engineering at the UNIVPM on 22/06/2006, discussing a thesis about on optical acquisition systems.
PhD in Mechanical Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Marche in 2009, thesis: “Development of optical techniques for shape and deformation measurements”
Research fellow at the DIISM of the Polytechnic University of Marche from 2010 to 2019, from 2016 to 2020 contract professor at UNIVPM of the Mechanical Design course.
