Research Areas

The research topic consists in defining the characteristics of an effective and intuitive approach for the capture, representation and modelling of design knowledge in mechanical and industrial engineering. The objective is to formalize in expert systems knowledge related to physical principles, functional realizations and systems behaviour models. The result must therefore materialize in an archive of knowledge that can be used to increase the research space for design solutions and support the work of the mechanical designer. Activities include approaches to formulate behavioural models and design decisions aimed at speeding up the choice, efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the solution developed.

Capsule Bio

Miriam Nardelli was born in Macerata (MC), in March 1992. She obtained a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Applications in 2014 and a master’s degree, again in Mathematics and Applications, in 2016 at the University of Camerino. In November 2016 she begins the PhD course in Industrial Engineering at the Department of Industrial Engineering and Mathematical Sciences (DIISM) at the Polytechnic University of Marche. Her research interests include mechanical design in particular the Conceptual Design phase and the software development of tools that support this phase.
