Research areas

Dynamic characterization of polymeric materials
The research activity focuses on the characterisation of the behaviour of polymeric materials when subjected to high strain rates, revealing the differences with quasi-static tests. Recent studies have been focused on the combined effect of temperature and strain rate on thermoplastic polymers, FDM-printed technopolymers and thermosetting resins for additive manufacturing.
Development of new measurement techniques for the dynamic behaviour of materials
The activity concerns the study and design of an innovative system for measuring the mechanical properties of materials in the intermediate dynamic regime.

Emanuele Farotti was born in Macerata in 1992. He graduated from Università Politecnica delle Marche in Ancona with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2014, a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2016 and a PhD in Industrial Engineering in 2020. He is currently working as Research Fellow at the Department of Industrial Engineering and Mathematical Sciences (DIISM) of Università Politecnica delle Marche. The main focus of his scientific research is the mechanical characterisation of polymers processed through different technologies (injection moulding, additive manufacturing), in both static and dynamic regimes.
